It depends on where you’re sending files from. Smash is used all over the world. We may be French, but our users are truly international.
Your files are always stored as close to you as possible. For example, files sent from France are stored in Paris, from Germany in Frankfurt, from the United Kingdom in London, from Canada in Montreal, from New York on the U.S. East Coast, from Mexico in Ohio, from South America in Virginia, and so on.
Smash hosts files across 9 regions worldwide. Files and data are never duplicated between regions — each transfer is stored in a single location only.
This local, temporary storage allows us to deliver high performance during uploads and downloads.
Because storage is strictly temporary, your files remain highly secure. It also helps reduce our carbon footprint. Once downloaded and after their limited lifespan on Smash, files are automatically deleted — and the planet thanks you.
