On Smash, large file transfers are always temporary — and sometimes, file drop links are too.

When someone shares a drop link with you, the goal is for you to send them large files through that unique link.

For security reasons, the file drop link may sometimes be valid for a limited and defined period. In such cases, the creator of the link chooses its validity duration, from 1 to 365 days. However, they can also choose not to restrict the link’s validity period and make it accessible indefinitely.

If the link has expired when you try to access it, it means the validity period has ended, and you won’t be able to use it to send files.

No worries! You can simply reach out to the person who shared the drop link with you and ask them to create a new one.

If you need any help, you can send us an e-mail.
