With the Smash Android app, you can easily send files from your phone or tablet.
To download them, your browser handles the process.
If you choose the “Download all” option because you need all the received files, a .zip file will be created. Likewise, if your sender needed to reduce the size of their files, for example when sending large videos from Android, you will also receive a compressed .zip file. To open it on your Android phone or tablet, we admit it is not the most intuitive process.
We recommend downloading an app to extract zip files, such as WinZip (free).
Here is a simple step-by-step guide to help you:
Click on the download link you received. So far, so good, right?
At the bottom of the page, click on “Download all as .zip”.
A confirmation window will appear. Click on Download.
A small download icon may appear at the top left of your screen. Once the download is complete, open the file.
If you have installed the WinZip app, you will be offered the option to unzip the files with WinZip.
You can open the files directly from WinZip or choose a location to save them.
These steps may vary slightly from one phone to another, but here are the main ingredients of the secret recipe to open a zip file on Android. ;)
